New haunts and happenings
We understand it may have been a while since you last visited leafy Hampstead, so we thought we’d scope out some of the best new openings not to be missed for your next visit. From pond swimming to our favourite new bakery, here’s our pick of the bunch...
If you’re a lover of baked goods, the recently opened Heath Street Bakehouse is well worth a visit. The passion project of a Baker and a Miller, Heath Street prides itself on using only the finest ingredients, from grains to flour, with a specific focus on sourdough. The Mirabilis team can vouch for the delicious results: don’t leave without bagging a blue cheese and walnut sourdough loaf.
If you’ve stayed with us before, you’ll know all that’s missing from our fully equipped apartment kitchens is fresh and wonderful produce. Queue Artichoke, a cheerful Greengrocer situated on Hampstead’s charming Heath Street (just a stone’s throw from Heath Street Bakehouse, so come prepared with your shopping bag). You can expect fresh cut flowers and a bounty of organic fruit and vegetables. If you’re cooking to impress, pick up a pack of their beautiful edible flowers, and scatter generously over a summer salad.
‘British Cafe Est. 2020’ bellows the homepage of the Norman’s Cafe website. A stunningly simple ode to British cafe culture, Norman’s has garnered quite a following on account of its sparse but alarmingly tasty plates of great British comfort food. From chip buttys to kippers on toast, white bread really has it's moment here. Go for the hangover breakfast of your dreams and leave a lifelong fan.
Swimming season is here and what better way to while away a Saturday than splashing around in one Hampstead’s picturesque outdoor pools. From the bucolic ‘Mixed’ Pond, open to all genders, to the retro charm of Parliament Hill Lido, there’s no better feeling on a sunny day; just don’t forget your towel.
